Mrs. Balazs’ Grading Procedures
·
Your child’s
grades are based on the curriculum standards set by the school system and the
state of Ohio. Grades reflect how
your child is progressing toward meeting those standards. Factors, such as, class participation,
attitude, ability level, organizational skills, and study habits are not
included in the grade itself, but are certainly taken into consideration when
evaluating your child’s growth.
Behavior and study skills will be noted on the interim reports, and I will
discuss these issues with you at conferences. Such characteristics may also be noted on your child’s
graded papers. Assignments will be graded and returned in a timely manner.
·
Students earn grades by
completing daily tasks, quizzes, tests, projects, and homework. Some of the assignments will be
completed individually and others with a partner or in small groups.
·
Daily assignments,
quizzes, and homework are given a point value depending on the number and type
of question. Projects and tests
are given a higher point value.
Most tests and projects are based on 100 points, unless otherwise
noted. No points are awarded when
an assignment not turned in on time.
The number on points a student has earned out of the total will be
marked at the top of the assignment, for example 9/10. The student has earned 9 out of 10
points. Points are recorded into
the computer’s program and translated into a letter grade at the end of
each quarter and interim period.
As a point of reference, the following grade scale is used at our
school:
·
A = 90 – 100 B = 80
– 89 C = 70 – 79 D = 60
– 69 F = 0 – 59
·
Please feel free to ask
about your child’s grades or progress any time you have a concern or question.
