Dear Parents / Guardians,

        What an exciting time this is for you and your child!  Kindergarten is such a wonderful childhood milestone!  My name is Lisa Naftzger, and this is my fourth year teaching Kindergarten at James A. Garfield Elementary. I received my BA in Early Childhood Education from Hiram College in 2005, and I will finish my Masters Degree in October of this year. I am very happy to be part of such a wonderful school district and community.

        My goal as a teacher is to instill a love for learning in my students and help them develop confidence and pride in themselves.  I strive to make my Kindergarten classroom a nurturing environment where learning is fun and exciting. 

       I feel that it is important to remember that every child learns differently.  Part of the beauty of teaching is finding what works best for each individual child.  I will constantly be seeking ways to best instruct your child so that he/she is able to excel in Kindergarten. 

       As the parent, you are a very important part of your child's Kindergarten experience.  Parent volunteers are always welcome in my classroom.  I will keep you informed of all the happenings in our classroom through a weekly newsletter.  Just as you will be receiving weekly communication from me, please feel free to call me or email me with questions or concerns at any time.  When parents and teachers work together, a child's success increases tremendously.
