2008/2009 Teacher Request Procedure:
If you would like to request a teacher for your child to have at the elementary school for the 2008/2009 school year, please submit your request in writing by Friday, April 18, 2008. Please include your top three choices and any other information you believe to be relevant. You may send your written request to Mrs. Brown at the elementary office. Parents are not expected to write a request, this is simply an option for parents wishing to do so.
Our staff considers many factors when working to create class lists and it becomes a very lengthy process. Written requests for specific teachers will be considered as part of that process with the ultimate goal being to create balanced classes, which provide a quality learning environment for all students. If your written request cannot be honored, you will be contacted by the principal before the start of school in August.
Kindergarten Entrance Skills
Here are some of the skills students should acquire before entering kindergarten:
- counting to 20, identify numbers 1-10
- identify basic colors and shapes
- write and recognize own first and last name
- identify most letters of the alphabet
- taking care of personal needs independently (ties shoes, zips jackets, & restroom use)
