My Teaching Philosophy
I embrace teaching as an opportunity to inspire and empower. As a teacher, it is my goal to ensure that each student in my classroom has a meaningful learning experience. This type of learning is most likely to occur when students become personally engaged with the materials and perceive the subject matter to be directly relevant to their lives. The process by which I work to stimulate student engagement is unique to each individual and the classroom. Learning about the students I teach and listening to their experiences has helped me to consider ways of making lessons relevant and fostering critical thinking skills. I believe that as a teacher, it is my duty to understand how each one of my students learns and develops in order to provide learning opportunities that support each child's intellectual, social and personal development.
