Welcome to first grade! I am excited about working with your child. I have been teaching in the Garfield School System over twenty years in both kindergarten and first grade. I graduated from Kent State University with both an undergraduate and a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.
My first grade classroom provides a child centered learning environment that develops independence and confidence. Through the use of inquiry and exploration modes of learning, the children are engaged in their discoveries. With your parental involvement and support, we become a community of learners.

The children are responsible for their homework/communication folder daily. It includes a behavior chart to be signed and returned daily, important notes and homework. Your child will have homework usually four times a week. A weekly letter will be sent home on Fridays to give parents information about what we are doing in our classroom.
I am looking forward to an exciting
and productive year!
