 12/10-1/4- novel: The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick,setting creation(models of Eden, the Urb, the Forbidden Zone), science fiction elements

1/7-1/25- research papers, citing sources, plagiarism, outlines, note cards, word origins, roots, prefixes, suffixes, Old English

1/28-2/1- reading comprehension, short story reading, plays

2/4-2/8- writing about literature, specific technical writing

2/11-2/22- Anne Frank, Holocaust, casue and effect, survivor's stories

2/25-2/29- dramatic poetry, reading/writing, performing

3/3-3/20- novel: Rag and Bone Shop by Robert Cormier, self-fulfilling prophecy, coercion, today's laws and rights of Americans

SPRING BREAK MARCH 24-28

3/31-4/11- advertising techniques, consumerism, magazines, functional reading, newspapers, propaganda/persuasive language

4/14-5/2- ACHIEVEMENT TEST PREPARATION

5/5-5/9- writing letters, job interviews

5/12-5/23- novel: The Shadow Club by N. Shusterman, dangers of gangs or cliques, dramatizing scenes, conflict resolutions, revenge

5/27-5/30- final exam review, final exams


 

 

DRAMA NEWS

Stay tuned for information on this year's 8th grade play. Auditions will be held the last two weeks of September. The show is November 16th and 17th at 7:30 PM both nights. Hope to see you there!
