JA Garfield Local School District

Mr. Gilbert's Web Page

Welcome to my web page.  Here you can check on what we are doing in class, and any up coming projects that may occur.  This year we will be studying the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, African Empires of Ghana, Songhai and Mali and India after the year 1000 B.C.  We will also be looking at the impact of the Middle Ages and European exploration.

The content is similar to what was covered in 6th grade, but we will ask the students to take their knowledge further and use those past experiences to help them gain a greater understanding of each of these civilizations.  Specifically we will be looking at environmental, governmental, social, and economic impact that these peoples have had on history.

Students and Parents may check the weekly assignments by using the School Notes website:  new.schoolnotes.com

Homework Policy

Homework is to be turned in at the beginning of the period in which it is due.  If a student is absent, it is the student's responsibility to get their assignments, both from activities done in-class and out-of-class.  Student's then have the same number of days to make-up the assignments as the number of school days missed.  Again, it is the student's responsibility to get these assignments.  Late homework will be counted as half credit, but after the test on the unit has been given, NO HOMEWORK FOR THAT UNIT WILL BE ACCEPTED!
