The track and field team once again had a great deal of postseason success. The boys program followed up an undefeated regular season by winning the Portage Trail Conference Meet for the second straight year and third in the last four seasons. The boys followed up the league title by winning the Division 2 District Title at Lakeview High School the following week. The district championship was the boys second title since 2016.
Following the district tournament several G-Men competed at the Regional Championships at Fitch High School and qualified for the State Championships in Columbus last weekend. Senior Tyler Klouda won his second straight Regional Title in the 1600 meters. Tyler went on to place 6th overall at the State Championships. Freshman Ryan Stoller (300 meter hurdles), senior Dylan Wilson (discus), junior Sara Kittle (shot put) and sophomore Lilly Johns (discus) also all qualified for the State Meet.
The season is still not over for some of the upcoming stars for the track program. Freshmen Ryan Stoller, Riley LaPorte, Peyton Yancey and 8th grader Jesse Grace will all compete at the New Balance Outdoor National Championships in Greensboro North Carolina this week. Stoller qualified for the 300 meter hurdles in the Emerging Elite Division. LaPorte and Yancey will compete in the shot put in the Freshman Division and Jesse Grace will throw both the shot put and discus in the Middle School Division.
