Last season the JAG Boys Cross Country team made history by not only winning their first Portage Trail Conference County Division Title but also winning the first Team District Title in school history. This year’s team repeated history by winning back to back League and District titles.

Running at the Randolph Fairgrounds on October 13th the boys held off league opponents Crestwood and Rootstown by a score of 28 to 63 and 67 respectively. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the sport of cross country, team scores are calculated by the placing of each team’s top five runners, meaning the lower the score the better. The boys were led by senior Tyler Klouda, who claimed his third consecutive Portage Trail Conference title, senior Alex Bell (2nd), sophomore Nolan Wysong (5th) and senior Travis Synnestvedt (6th).

The following weekend the same group of runners defended their District Title at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The boys took the title by defeating state ranked Salem by a score of 86 to 94. Tyler Klouda once again led the all runners and claimed the District individual title. Their performance qualified the team for this past weekend’s Regional Meet at Boardman High School where the boys placed 11th (top four teams qualify for the state meet). Klouda placed 5th overall, which earned him his 3rd trip to the State Championship Meet this weekend in Hebron.
