On September 19th the Kent State University Football program goes big by honoring a specific teacher and letting them know they are valued and respected. Each year Kent State University selects one teacher that will receive a $1,000 gift card to use on supplies they need for the classroom on Donors Choose.
This year Jake Der, a Social Studies Teacher at James A. Garfield High School, has been selected for this prestigious award. Mr. Der is a prominent supporter of Kent State athletics, and KSU selected him for his dedication to students. Kent State University Assistant Athletic Director, Katie Schilling, and KSU mascot, Flash, surprised Mr. Der with a $1,000 certificate to be used on supplies through Donors Choose along with some balloons during class.
