James A. Garfield High School’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program continues to shine, giving students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school — and they’re making the most of it.

This year, 74 students across grades 9-12 are participating in CCP, with an impressive 817 college credit hours earned through 244 course registrations. That’s a head start equivalent to a full semester of college for the average CCP student — saving both time and money for families.

The Class of 2025 alone has excelled, with 30 seniors accumulating 454 college credits over their high school careers. Six of those seniors graduated with 27–32 credits each — the equivalent of a full year of college completed before even stepping foot on a university campus.

Pass rates are equally impressive, with a perfect 100% for CCP courses offered at JAG and Hiram College, and a 97% pass rate for Kent State University courses. Popular courses include Writing in the Liberal Arts, Precalculus, Psychology, and Sociology — showing the breadth of opportunities CCP offers.

Thanks to strong partnerships with Hiram College and Kent State University, as well as dedicated teachers and counselors, students can choose from a wide variety of in-person and online classes while staying connected to the JAG community.

We’re proud to help our G-Men get a head start on their futures.
