James A. Garfield Middle School wrestlers turned in several strong performances Friday, Jan. 2, competing on their home mats at the Portage County Junior High Wrestling Tournament.
Garfield crowned one individual champion and added multiple placement finishes across the weight classes.
At 142 pounds, Garfield’s Cam Singleton won the championship, securing a fall in 2:33 in the title match to lead the G-Men’s efforts.
Garfield also produced a second-place finisher at 150 pounds, where Knox Paul advanced to the championship bout before finishing as the runner-up.
In the 110-pound division, Garfield’s Cuddy Colton earned a third-place finish, battling through the placement rounds to reach the podium.
Garfield hosted the countywide event at its high school gymnasium, welcoming teams from across Portage County for a full slate of championship and placement matches.
