Go G-Men!

Students in Mr. Moser’s 8th grade social studies classes recently stepped back in time—by logging in. Through an interactive classroom project centered around the classic game The Oregon Trail, students explored the challenges and decisions faced by pioneers traveling west in the 1800s.

Go G-Men!

This engaging activity directly connects to Ohio’s 8th grade social studies standards, particularly those focused on Westward Expansion, economic decision-making, and the impact of geography on settlement. As students navigated rivers, managed supplies, and made critical survival choices while applying historical knowledge in a dynamic, real-world simulation.

The classroom was filled with energy and excitement as students tracked their progress, answered questions, made decisions, and compared journeys. Those who successfully reached the Willamette Valley were awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment along with a well-earned stockpile of JAGcoins. Leading the way on the class leaderboard was Owen F., who impressively made it to Oregon as a farmer with his entire group intact—a rare and celebrated achievement!
